Workshop 1
Family Ties
Laying the groundwork for a lifetime of conversations
Conversations are the building blocks within a family to share ideas, solve problems, debate a point, and share stories. Sometimes it’s hard to start and to keep the conversation going on big topics: puberty, sex, porn, consent, safety to name a few. Join us as we share strategies with each other for having these important conversations with your preteen and teen while building trust and strengthening your relationship.
Workshop 2
The Wonder Years
A big guide to big feelings
Emotions are essential to communicating our response to the world AND developing emotional awareness is a primary task of adolescence. Join us for a conversation using research-based practices for coaching our preteens and teens on acknowledging and regulating emotions when making decisions. Expand your toolkit for navigating challenging moments, and assessing when to ask for support.
Workshop 3
Full House
Contributing and community
Being in a community gives us a sense of identity and belonging. Kids and grown-ups build important skills for being with others when they navigate the everyday life of work and play in a family. How can we help our children to be generous, accountable and interdependent people? Join us for a conversation on practical ways to share everyday responsibilities and decision-making where contributions are valued and respected and grow with importance as kids get older.
Workshop 4
Growing Pains:
Body basics for Grown-Ups
Sharing life with someone in puberty creates opportunities for conversations about how our bodies change over time. This leads to opportunities for conversations about many topics like: eating/nutrition, strength, sports and moving, size, how people see you, comparisons, differences, sexualization. Join our team of puberty experts to review typical growth and development and all the worries, concerns, and celebrations of a body under construction.
Workshop 5
The Social Network
Navigating friendships across multiple platforms
Adolescence is an important time to build skills for friendships and healthy relationships. How do grown-ups stay close while standing back as preteens and teens navigate their social lives? What is the data on the role of social media and technology in the life of adolescents? Join us in a conversation talking about how kids change developmentally in their friendship skills over time and explore the role of parents and trusted grown-ups as our kids navigate relationships while developing their own identities.
